Metal, specialty shingles and full siding replacement in Sunset
From our Bridgeport office we take on whole-roof and whole-house projects in Sunset and across Montague County. For Sunset homeowners, the projects we do most are whole-roof and whole-house: metal, specialty shingles and siding.
- Specialty and designer shingles. Designer and luxury shingles and slate-look and shake-look shingles for homes where the roof is part of the look.
- Standing seam and other metal. 26-gauge standing seam, plus 26-gauge R-panel, stone-coated steel and metal shingles and tile. We form our standing seam panels in-house on our own roll formers and standing seam machine, and our own crew installs them.
- Premium shingle systems. Impact-rated shingle systems from the manufacturers we're certified with (GAF, CertainTeed, Owens Corning and Atlas). Class 3 is our minimum and Class 4 is available, with TDI Form PC068 for your insurer. Credits vary by company.
- Full siding replacement. Whole-house siding replacement, done with the roof, gutters, soffit and fascia in one project when you want everything to match.
Snow Roofing & Exteriors is A+ rated on the BBB. We do repair leaks and storm damage near Sunset too, and if a repair is all your roof needs, we'll tell you that first. See storm & hail inspections.
The town that was in Wise County, then wasn't
Sunset sits on a spur of State Highway 101 at the western end of Farm Road 1749. TSHA says a Butterfield Overland Mail station stood two miles from the present townsite, settlers arrived from Denton County in 1870, and the town was named Sunset after the name Smithville was taken. The Fort Worth and Denver Railway came through in 1882, and residents of nearby Pella moved to Sunset to be near the tracks. Before 1900, because of a surveying error, Sunset was in Wise County. A lawsuit that year put it in Montague County.
Sunset once had a canning factory, a weekly newspaper, cotton gins and two banks. Today it's quiet ranch and farm country, and the roofs are mostly houses, barns and shops.
