Metal, specialty shingles and full siding replacement in Alvord
From our Decatur office we take on whole-roof and whole-house projects in Alvord and across Wise County. Older homes and established streets around Alvord are where slate-look and shake-look shingles and full siding replacement change the look of a house the most.
- Specialty and designer shingles. Designer and luxury shingles and slate-look and shake-look shingles for homes where the roof is part of the look.
- Standing seam and other metal. 26-gauge standing seam, plus 26-gauge R-panel, stone-coated steel and metal shingles and tile. We form our standing seam panels in-house on our own roll formers and standing seam machine, and our own crew installs them.
- Premium shingle systems. Impact-rated shingle systems from the manufacturers we're certified with (GAF, CertainTeed, Owens Corning and Atlas). Class 3 is our minimum and Class 4 is available, with TDI Form PC068 for your insurer. Credits vary by company.
- Full siding replacement. Whole-house siding replacement, done with the roof, gutters, soffit and fascia in one project when you want everything to match.
Snow Roofing & Exteriors is A+ rated on the BBB. We do repair leaks and storm damage near Alvord too, and if a repair is all your roof needs, we'll tell you that first. See storm & hail inspections.
A railroad town on the 287 corridor
Alvord is on U.S. Highway 287/81, about ten miles northeast of Decatur. TSHA says it began as a community called Nina and took its present name in 1882, in honor of the president of the Fort Worth and Denver Railway Company. It became a retail center for area farmers, shrank during the Depression, and has grown again lately. Census estimates show 1,350 residents in the 2020 base and about 1,675 in 2025, about 24% growth.
Baseball-size hail on 287
Alvord has a big-hail history. NOAA's Storm Events Database lists 2.75-inch hail at Alvord on April 11, 2016, including a public report of baseball-size hail along Highway 287 between Alvord and Sunset. NOAA described that storm as a long-lived supercell that produced a multi-million-dollar hailstorm across the northern DFW suburbs. It also lists 1.75-inch hail at Alvord on April 17, 2019, and an EF-0 tornado there on March 18, 2020.
Hail that size can crack shingles and dent metal, and damage often doesn't show from the ground. If your roof was installed before April 2016 and hasn't been inspected since a big storm, it's worth a look. See storm & hail inspections.
