Metal, specialty shingles and full siding replacement in Aurora
From our Rhome office we take on whole-roof and whole-house projects in Aurora and across Wise County. Our focus around Aurora is complete projects: a new metal roof, a premium shingle system, or all of the siding on the house.
- Specialty and designer shingles. Designer and luxury shingles and slate-look and shake-look shingles for homes where the roof is part of the look.
- Standing seam and other metal. 26-gauge standing seam, plus 26-gauge R-panel, stone-coated steel and metal shingles and tile. We form our standing seam panels in-house on our own roll formers and standing seam machine, and our own crew installs them.
- Premium shingle systems. Impact-rated shingle systems from the manufacturers we're certified with (GAF, CertainTeed, Owens Corning and Atlas). Class 3 is our minimum and Class 4 is available, with TDI Form PC068 for your insurer. Credits vary by company.
- Full siding replacement. Whole-house siding replacement, done with the roof, gutters, soffit and fascia in one project when you want everything to match.
Snow Roofing & Exteriors is A+ rated on the BBB. We do repair leaks and storm damage near Aurora too, and if a repair is all your roof needs, we'll tell you that first. See storm & hail inspections.
The town with the airship legend
Aurora is on State Highway 114 about ten miles southeast of Decatur, on a gentle rise among mesquite and live oaks. TSHA says it was founded in the late 1850s, incorporated in 1882, and reached an estimated 750 to 3,000 people in the mid-1880s before spotted fever and the railroad's decision to bypass it emptied the town. Most of the remaining residents moved to Rhome, two miles to the southeast. In 1897, a Dallas Morning News story described a mysterious airship crashing outside town. TSHA calls the article apparently fictional, but the legend stuck.
Aurora came back in the 1970s as a bedroom community for Fort Worth. Census estimates show 1,389 residents in the 2020 base and about 1,643 in 2025.
Weather near Aurora
NOAA doesn't key any hail report to Aurora by name, but it lists 2-inch hail at Rhome, about two miles away, on April 1, 2024, and 1.75-inch hail at Rhome on May 3, 2021 and November 24, 2025. Hail often falls in narrow swaths, so a neighbor's roof can be fine while yours isn't. See storm & hail inspections.
