About Arlington
Arlington was founded in 1876 on the Texas and Pacific Railway halfway between Dallas and Fort Worth as a market town for surrounding farms, and incorporated in 1884. The Village Creek area near present-day Lake Arlington was one of the largest Native American settlements in the region before the 1841 battle there. Census estimates put it at about 402,000 people today.
